7TH MAY 2010:

official opening of Debra Rankin's exhibition

Family Matters

at the Serpentine Community Gallery

on Friday, from 6.30pm.

Debra's solo exhibition examines the topic of

Parental Alienation. Debra is an appropriation collage photomontage artist using images and text from

 legal publications and popular culture.

"Through my arts practice I wish to bring awareness to Parental Alienation in the context of child-custody disputes and the legal culture that facilitates the process of alienation. Parental Alienation is the creation

of a singular relationship between a child and parent,

to the exclusion of the other parent."

All welcomed to come along for some food, music

and appreciation of local art.

For more info contact the gallery on 6621 6845.

On view from the 3rd to the 14th of May, 2010.

Peter van de Voorde from 'Dads on the Air' Australia, mingled with the visitors on opening night

and recorded some of their stories. Their stories and Peter's interview can be listened to in MP3 format at:

Guests at the opening enjoyed delicious and creatively

presented food prepared by Vicky from 'Bite My Artz'.
