A Paper Trail  - Workshops & Exhibition

17TH SEPTEMBER 2010: Opening of A Paper Trail exhibitionat the Serpentine Community Gallery on Friday, from 6pm.

This exhibition showcases works created by the artists and facilitators

who shared their skills during the week of workshops held

between 6th and 10th September at the Serpentine gallery.

All works will be on paper

and created through a diverse range of arts practice techniques.

Works will be available for sale.

Altered Books workshop participant Alan

will stage a short performance featuring his artwork on opening night called

"The Illumination of Billy Bunter".

You are invited to join us at the opening for

performance, music, art, wine and nibblies.

Serpentine is a family friendly venue.

All workshops held at the Serpentine from 10.30am till 1.30pm.

 Groups:10 participants with two facilitators. Materials provided.

Cost: $20 per session or $15 for current Serpentine members.

Pre-paid bookings required, please pay at the gallery,

call 6621 6845. Places are limited so first in gets a place.

A Paper Trail - Workshops Schedule

Monday 6th of September

Altered Books

with Jesse Mackintosh and Louise Irving

We will be deconstructing existing books and reassembling them, inserting collage, drawing, printing and rearranging the format with new pages to tell a story, logical or totally bizarre.

Come along with an old book you wish to work with or any collected papers and materials.

Tuesday 7th of September

Experimental Screen Printing

with Michael White and Zeb Schulz

You will be guided on a creative experimental journey through the opportunities of screen-printing. You will learn from the best as they inspire and demonstrate the adaptability of this versatile arts technique.

Wednesday 8th of September

Paper & Print

with Katie Alleva and Emma Burrows

Learn how to create a Photographic Digital transfer collage on Hahnemuhle paper. Explore how a variety of mixed media techniques from drawing, painting, printing, machine stitch on paper, photography, collage and automatic writing can create an engaging self-portrait.

Participants are asked to bring images, photos, drawings and other objects of inspiration.

Thursday 9th of September

Not Meant to be Drawn With…

with Amoonda Nelson and Clare Twomey

Come and enjoy a workshop designed to open your mind and expand the parameters of art and arts materials.

You will be taken through a series of drawing techniques with materials usually not drawn with. There are no more excuses not to be an artist.

Friday 10th of September

Getting your hands dirty with Charcoal

with Brendan McCumstie and Kat Dolheguy

This workshop will include techniques such as monotype printing and frottage.

All workshops are held at the Serpentine from 10.30am to 1.30pm. Materials are provided. $20 per session or $15 for current gallery members.
