Kadina High School Year 12 students - High Art 2012

24th AUGUST 2012: Opening of the group exhibition

High Art 2012

on Friday at 6pm.

High Art 2012

is the second year

that an exhibition showcasing the

Year 12 Visual Arts class

from Kadina High School

will be held at the

Serpentine Community Gallery.

Everyone is welcome to attend the opening,

or to drop by the gallery to view

High Art 2012

- a refreshing look into the artists of our future.

These artworks will be at the Serpentine

until Sunday the 2nd September 2012

(then they're off to the 'education department'

for HSC assessment).

This year the students have explored:

painting, drawing,

photography,

digital media, animation and

a collection of work.

Ten Higher School Certificate submissions,

two life-skills submissions and

one photography submission are on display.

Each artist's work explores

an original concept that the student

felt a strong connection to.

The opening celebration

Welcome and opening speeches given by Kadina High Principal Ian Davies and

Visual Arts teacher Kye Underhill with signing by Beth Gardner.

An enthusiastic gathering of friends, family and local art-lovers

enjoys the speeches, the discussions and, of course, the art.

Gallery front, music by guitarist Ryden Darvill entertains, and awards and congratulations are given

- choosing a favourite body of work was particularly difficult with every artist receiving votes.

Members of the Serpentine community take a well earned break:

(L to R) Paula Sinclair and Rachael Windress; Gareth Lindsay Deakin, Janelle Buckley, Wera Teves and Fani d'Espiney.
