Scarlet

1st June 2012: Opening of

Scarlet,

a group exhibition by artists of the Northern Rivers,

on Friday at 6pm.

The Serpentine Community Gallery presents

Scarlet,

our 6th annual exhibition of artworks by members

exploring the sexual, the sensual,

the erotic, beauty, love, seduction and lust.

The opening celebration will feature

seductive performances,

sensual poetry and evocative music

as well as tasty nibbles and drinks,

and a wonderful selection of

arousing works of art.

There will also be an 'open mic'

segment for poets, musicians and

performers. Everyone is welcome,

and much encouraged, to present

their art forms.

Babysitters are recommended as, following tradition,

it promises to be an adults only evening.

Dress code is open,

but if dressing up is your thing

dress to the Scarlet theme.

Free entry.

The opening

The first 'red dot' goes up. Artist Rodney Sharpe and Kitree, the proud new owner of his work

'The Catholic on the Cactus'.

Were Teves is the focus of attention as she enthralls the crowd with her 'Scarlet' themed poetry.

While many at the event choose to wear something 'scarlet', voted 'Best Dressed' was Josephine McKinnon showcasing

her eye-catching, handmade feather cape and headpiece

(the feathers were sourced from her backyard chickens).

Gallery front music by 'The Pepper Boys'

- guitarist Vic Florey and double bass player David Bastien -

kept the crowd entertained.

Scarlet is on view until 2nd July 2012.
