A Memoir of Cherry Blossom

Sho Wakejima - A Memoir of Cherry Blossom

23rd OCTOBER 2008: Opening of Sho Wakejima's solo exhibition

  A Memoir of Cherry Blossom

at the Serpentine Community Gallery on Thursday, from 6-8pm.

Using portraiture to express his blossoming inspirations in this exhibition,

Sho Wakejima's A Memoir of Cherry Blossom

is a mixture of Japanese and Western,

traditional and contemporary (much as he describes himself).

Sho has lived in Terania Creek for eight years.

Cherry blossoms

were a recurring theme of

a trip to Japan that Sho undertook

earlier this year.

"The blossoms had",

as Sho said,

“a powerful impact on my psyche

for their value in

traditional Japanese culture.”
