20-22.10.11 CreativExchange @ Lismore Show

20th to 22nd OCTOBER 2011: Serpentine Community Gallery

CreativExchange and Arts Cafe @ Lismore Show

daily, from 9am to midnight.

An interactive artistic hub and public gallery with workshops, demonstrations, art for sale,

an arts cafe and best of all you can check out artists live in action.

Local artists will be there to share their creative skills

and the public is invited to take a moment to chill

amongst all the action of the show

and be inspired.

'Bumping in' started about a week before the show: With the first batch of materials on site,

and the construction of the CreativExchange's cardboard structure underway,

Barry Thurston, Sue Alford and James Smythe watch and wait as a sudden down-pour

creates a mini flood around our freshly glued together walls! (Images: Corinne Batt-Rawden)

With the help of some colourful 'red skies at night' and

a great team of volunteers working hard to make it happen,

'our space' is ready for another year of creative show action.

Art supplies assembled and tables set-up ready for workshops, demos and individual creations.

Ready to answer or solve creative questions & problems, artist Claire Chatfield (in green) assists in the 'studio' space.

This Chang mural provides a hands-on-moment for all ages,

another, completed, shades and decorates (left).

Creativexchange cafe morning, noon and night: Corinne behind the counter serving potter Ray Moller, Dawn Thirlaway

takes a break from ceramic demonstrations to chat with barrista-of-the-day Trish, and hansdieter gives a helping hand.

Surprise! Surprise! Our First Show Ribbon:

We were judged the 2011 winner of the

'Best Outside Trade Display'

by a sneaky, bevy of Lismore Show Girls

who had spent some time visiting us,

posing for photos with

Serpentine community members

Shay Collyer and Ray Moller.

Later in the day, a most surprised,

gallery manager, Corinne Batt-Rawden

was on hand to receive the blue ribbon.

Allowing his artistic side to run riot during the North Coast National,

Ray Parry created a large selection of mixed media works.

A Rodney Sharpe 'live-painting' of one of the bands

performing in the neighbouring entertainment tent

is held by the band member who purchased it on the spot.

Ray Parry and Corinne Batt-Rawden display

some of the works he sold at the show.

James Smythe at work; some of his smaller creations below - free handmade showbags

Sculptures by Sam Nest and Ray Moller adorn 'garden corner'.

On hand for the evening shift, Clare Twomey

adds her touch to the Serp gallery @ the show.

An anti-CSG mural and a selection of paper, card, pens, pencils, textas and glue: Anyone care to play?

Dawn, Trish, Chris and Rodney in the cafe.

Sights seen from here were many and varied, just a few are shown below.
