Held in February 2007, a Shane Duniam exhibition entitled

Reconciliation: A Journey of Spirit

was the Serpentine Community Gallery's

very first solo showcase of a member's artworks.

Having left Brisbane as disaffected city-dwellers,

Shane and his partner spent three years in Mimili,

a tiny Central Australian township.

"It was fantastic - unbelievably beautiful.

And green - with mulga trees (wattles) and red river gums. I expected a big dry dust bowl,"

he said of the local area.

During this time Shane first met someone from the stolen generation,

and also learned of his own Aboriginal heritage.

Reconciliation: A Journey of Spirit

"is my response to the landscape and the journey I've been on,"

said Shane.
