Debra Rankin

Debra Rankin is an appropriation collage/photomontage artist

using images and text from legal publications and popular culture.

In May 2010, Debra held Family Matters

 - a solo exhibition examining the topic of Parental Alienation -

at the Serpentine Community Gallery,

"Through my arts practice

 I wish to bring awareness

to Parental Alienation

in the context of

 child-custody disputes

 and the legal culture

that facilitates

 the process of alienation.

Parental Alienation

 is the creation

 of a singular relationship

 between a child and parent,

 to the exlusion

 of the other parent."

Family Matters was on view at the Serpentine Community Gallery from 1st to 15th May 2010.
