Volunteer Expo 2011

Serpentine Community Gallery

was invited to attend

Volunteer Expo 2011,

which took place at Lismore Town Hall

on Thursday 12th May.

This event was organised by

 Volunteering Northern Rivers

with the National Volunteer Week

theme for 2011 being:

"Inspiring the Volunteer in You".

Our longest serving volunteer,

gallery co-founder

Corinne Batt-Rawden

was nominated for the Expo's

Outstanding Volunteer Competition

and a photo of our volunteers

in action was selected for the

Photography Competition.

Founder of this community gallery

and our nominated

'Outstanding Volunteer',

Beyond Logic and Reason,

held in July/August 2009.

Corinne Batt-Rawden's screenprinting demonstrations and workshops

were some of the activities

staged by the gallery at our

Creative Exchange @ Lismore Show

in October 2010. (Volunteer in action pic)

29th April 2011:

A couple of Lismore's

 'Movers and Shakers',

Corinne and Mayor Jenny Dowell

 open our first

'Salon des Refuses'.

No competition wins for us this year,

but the team of volunteers manning our stall were kept busy throughout the day as they

introduced the gallery, and outlined its activities, to a whole new range of

interested members of the Northern Rivers community.

Serpentine volunteers Sue Alford, Rebecca Moon together with son Oscar,

and Gareth Lindsay Deakin were on hand to answer questions

and explain the gallery's role in our local community to visitors to

Volunteer Expo 2011.
