SERPENTINE COMMUNITY GALLERY

The Serpentine Community Gallery Inc. is a volunteer run not for profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of Northern Rivers’ arts culture and artists. Founded in 2006 by a small group of local artists, the Serpentine Gallery is now well respected in the Northern Rivers arts community. It is known as a gallery that encourages artists to engage in freedom of expression in their arts practice. We are 100% volunteer run with the passion of local artists and art lovers and the broader community.

Serpentine supports artists from the traditional through to the experimental, and embraces all forms of art. Performance, projection, sculpture, ceramics, spoken word, audio art, painting, drawing, mixed media – all art forms are equally at home at the Serpentine. An organic uncensored representation of our local arts community, the Serpentine celebrates diversity.

We host themed group exhibitions for Serpentine members and the gallery is available for hire for events, launches and solo or group exhibitions. We also run our Rotations Gift Shop where after an exhibition artists are invited to display their works for a while longer. We occasionally run art workshops, community arts projects and interagency projects encouraging arts practice and supporting local artists. We have an active and dynamic annual calendar of exhibitions, performances and events.
