Members - Miniatures
2ND MARCH 2012: Opening of
Miniatures
- an art show by local Northern Rivers artists -
on Friday at 7pm.
Members of the Serpentine Community Gallery present
the group exhibition Miniatures.
Small sized works is the theme,
30cm x 30cm maximum,
however some of our artists may have other interpretations - little, minute, diminutive, undersized, minor, tiny, insignificant, infinitesimal, teeny,
microscopic, itsy-bitsy, miniscule, petite, short,
elfin, pocket, compact, reduced size, tinsy, wee, scaled down, and there's always room for more...
This exhibition is a great opportunity for local artists
to showcase a variety of their works,
or to create a series/group of works about
a particular idea or message.
Everyone is invited to attend opening night.
Light refreshments will be available.
Miniatures is on view until Monday
the 19th March 2012.
“Good things come in small packages” *
Come and explore with us the diminutive world of the miniature. Whether miniscule or petite,
here we uncover the mystery of the microcosm within the macrocosm.
Like tiny fractals within the Mandelbrot set we are all part of something bigger,
but all love the cutsie wutsie of the itsy bitsy teeny weenie.
*Ancient proverb from the book of Jude

Artist Statement
This body of work is based on creating illusionary images from within the camera.
I prefer to create the image honestly using the technology of the camera rather than with Photoshop.
With elements of intrigue and surprise, these dynamic images contain unusual view points
which challenge the viewer. I always like the viewer to interpret my images from their own life’s experiences.

Artist Statement
Rob Harle is an artist and writer especially concerned with the nature of consciousness, embodiment and
techno-augmentation. His current work, both art practice and writing, explores the nature of the so-called
transition from human to posthuman, a phenomenon he calls the technoMetamorphosis of humanity.
Past artwork was mainly drawing and sculpture, current work is exclusively digital/computer created images.
'Every so often I experience a genetic regression to a pre-digital incarnation
which brings out pencils, crayons and memory of a period when “time passed slowly”.
These 3 works are from such a regression.'
