Members and friends - Art Auction 2011
8th MAY 2011: The Serpentine Community Gallery's
Art Auction 2011
will take place in the cafe adjoining
Lismore Regional Gallery
on the Sunday of Mothers Day, at 2pm.
Yay! It's on again.
Serpentine is having it's
annual fundraising Art Auction.
On auction day, venue doors
open at midday for art viewing.
From the Wednesday prior to the auction,
some of the works will be on display
in the cafe's windows.
Some of the works that have been donated to the Art Auction.
Auctioneers for the occasion are Jinky Mactal and S. Sorrensen,
both witty and experienced auctioneers.
Music at half time will be performed by the angelic Nikkita Horne.
Serpentine is an artist run initiative that is funded through events
such as this, with our community gallery receiving
one hundred percent of the proceeds of this event.
Artists who wish to donate artwork
for us to auction please do,
it will be well received.

If you haven't been to a Serpentine fundraiser before,
it's a fun and eventful afternoon.
Wine, food and good times available. :)
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to call and ask.
On the day
Serpentine committee Secretary, and gallery mainstay, Corinne Batt-Rawden
welcomes and thanks everyone, gives a brief outline of what the
Serpentine Community Gallery and its objectives are, and officially opens Art Auction 2011.
Auctioneer Jinky Mactal, has the crowd relaxing,
laughing and bidding before they know it!
Â
Smiles fill faces as auction-goers fill the cafe and surrounds.
Our volunteers do a great job displaying the artworks as they make sure everyone gets as close a look as possible.
Music at mid-auction break: A wonderful indoor/outdoor
space, provided by Lismore Regional Gallery,
sunshine thanks to nature, and gentle melodies
by Nikkita Horne combine for a perfect Sunday afternoon.
Break over: Auction humour resumes,
and the tension builds once more,
as auctioneer S. Sorrenson's banter takes over and
he gets the bidders on their toes and the bids coming in.

Emma Burrows' 'Spooky Lady' was the last work to come under the auctioneer's hammer and a bidding war commenced. As S's finger flashed from side to side of the room, all eyes followed and the bids came fast
and furious - the perfect energy with which to end this community gallery fundraising event.
From the pre-auction preparation of nibblies, to keeping tabs on the day's bids
through to the end of auction clean up, (and everything in between)
Serpentine Community Gallery volunteers, members and friends all pitch in.
