is a Northern Rivers based artist
who has a passion for the environment
and abstract painting.
Her art practice spans 50 years
and the Serpentine Community Gallery
is proud to present
Sea Sky Land
- a retrospective exhibition of her work.
Opening at 2pm on Sunday
26th of June 2016,
Vicki Swift's
Sea Sky Land
runs until 3rd July 2016.
Vicki will be generously donating
a percentage from sales of her work to
(The NSW Wildlife Information,
Rescue and Education Service Inc).
Drawing her inspiration from her surroundings,
Vicki Swift’s work is reflective of
the relationship between nature and the self.
Rather than reproducing landscape
in a classically representational way,
she captures the essence and the feeling
of being within the landscape.
From the coast to the hills,
Vicki uses a sophisticated
process of deconstruction in her works.
Her restrained palette and the layering of textures
makes her paintings vibrate in a tactile way
…offering the viewer
an impressionistic interpretation of landscape.
One of her methodologies involves using shells
as a means of ‘printing’ paint directly onto the canvas
which creates patterns transporting us
on to the sandy beaches and
into the landscape she lives in.
The opening celebration
With the exhibition over, the delighted new owner of 'High Tide'
by Vicki Swift took the opportunity while attending the opening of
Jeremy Austin's solo show "Instances: the art of the maker"
to pick up her artwork, purchased during "Sea Sky Land".
Following her successful exhibition, artist Vicki Swift presents
WIRES volunteer Marion Nel with a much appreciated donation.
