Serpentine Community Gallery’s latest exhibition
"Favourites"
gives members a chance to show
their favorite work to date.
Since opening in 2006, the Serpentine has grown into
a strong arts community. There are many talented artists
and this is a chance for them to reflect on the progress
of their work, and on what inspires them to create.
An expression of themselves.
Opening at 7pm on Friday the 28th of February 2014,
this exhibition is not to be missed.
You can be inspired by the works, meet the makers
and see how far the artists that we all love have come.
There are many emerging talented artists in Lismore
and Serpentine provides the opportunity for a place
for these artists to show their work and progress.
"Favourites" will be on view between 25 February and 24 March 2014.

Artist's Statement
'Queen of Sheba Orchid, Thelymitra variegate'
It’s not so much the painting itself, as the subject matter that’s the “fave”. Orchids – those rather
quirky, exotic flowers have always been a
source of fascination for me.
Once as a child we went away for an extended visit to relatives, we came home to find my usually undemonstrative father had filled our house
full of Orchids!
This is my first large-scale experimentation with oils.
It’s a transitional work that explores the rather other – worldly qualities of a native Sun Orchid. Thelymitra are commonly known as Sun Orchids, due to their tendency
to only open their flowers in the warm sunshine.
