The Night of the Masquerade Ball
As the Northern Rivers region's masked band of merry men and women arrived at the ball,
they were welcomed into the fragrant, colourfully lit garden by party inspiring music played by DJ Sista Ray,
and the gallery's new banner created at the Serpentine's 2012 CreativExchange @ Lismore Show.
With the No Frills Twins
setting up, MC Miss Murder took to 'the stage' welcoming the crowd, giving a brief talk
about the Serpentine
and its aims, outlining the reasons for this fundraising event and the night's program as well as thanking everyone for their support of the Serpentine Community Gallery.
Miss Murder then called for a
volunteer from the audience. Art and fun loving Guy stepped forward (or may have been
pushed!) to find himself down on his knees, and under her control...
Their music now filling the garden,
the No Frills Twins soon had everyone's attention.
Ready to join the audience and enjoy the night, the No Frills Twins,
Vanessa and Arna (or is it Arna and Vanessa?), smile for the camera.
'Dance Guy,' commands MC Miss Murder, then with a regal motion
Guy is dismissed. MC MM investigates other possible 'volunteers'
Best-dressed prizes were awarded by ball-goers, with the loudest applause being for
'Nurse Ana', a most exuberant first prize winner pictured right with Miss Murder

Some of the revelers, perhaps the Northern Rivers' more experienced
masked ball goers, choose to have face-painted masks
For those with a more traditional mask,
many were worn up!

Performing as StArFiReFly, Josephine McKinnon took us all
back to the enchantment of childhood as we ohhed, ahhed
and held our breathes throughout her bedazzling firestick routine.

Discovering just who can perform the whole set masked, and finding out that vocalist Leon is perhaps better off not, Thundergods of the Multiverse pumped
up the sound and soon had the dance floor filled
While some danced, others preferred to watch and listen, including the
nights' performers as they relaxed into the ball and enjoyed the other acts.

Fully costumed Peter Lehner appears to be a rather shy character.
Unmasked, with Jannelle Buckley, an out-going fun-loving one appears.
....and good night
